When To Seek Christian Marriage Counseling

If you are a Christian, more than likely you know what the Bible teaches about divorce.  And if you don’t, let me remind you.  Except in the case of infidelity, the Bible actually says that “God hates divorce” (NIV).  So if you’re a Christian and you feel like you want a divorce, it may be time to seek some marriage counseling from another Christian.

Let me try to give you some specific circumstances and scenarios that may warrant getting some Christian marriage counseling:

1) Infidelity/Adultery - If there is any infidelity or adultery that has gone on and has contributed to your troubled marriage, you are in fact past due!  Time to get some christian marriage counseling ASAP!

2) If either of you wants a divorce - The Bible forbids divorce (except in the case of an adulterous affair, as stated above), so if either you or your spouse want to break off the marriage I would highly advise getting some marriage counseling from a qualified Christian counselor…you don’t want to disobey God and break your covenant.

3) If there is abuse going on - If there is real bonafide abuse–physical or emotional–it’s time to get some christian marriage counseling.  You don’t want to let issues of abuse build up and take root in your marriage.
